Fat Cattle Improve On Recent Offerings FAT SHEEP SHOW NO CHANGE Entries were on the light sides to-day at Addington. Store and fat lambs sold, keenly, but ewes, though the offering was small for this time of the year, sold slowly for all but the best. Fat lambs made good, prices, whilst fat cattle improved slightly on account of a small entry. Fat sheep showed practically no change. Store sheep: Another small entry of lambs due to rains having improved feed prospect. A good sale, values hardening and being up on three weeks ago by 4/- to 5/-. Ewes were included in the North Island lines of poor to medium class and these sold draggingly Good local half breeds however, were'snapped up. Two-tooth Eomney ewes 27/6 to 29/6, inferior two-toothed ronmey cross ewes 25/3 to 26/9, four and six-toothed romaev cross ewes SO/- to 34/6, good four, six and cightrtnothcd romney owes 26/- to 30/-, inferior four, six and eighttoothed cross bred ewes 23/6 to 25/6, failing mouthed crossbred ewes 18/6 to 22/-, aged crossbred ewes 8/- to 15/6, good toothed halfbred ewes to
•10/(5, four-toothed Kalfbred ewes 33/6, four, sis and eight-toothed half bred ewes 26/6 to 30/-, low conditioned four, sis and eight-toothed ewes 22/6 to 24/9, aged ewes 8/9 to 14/6, forward three-quarter bred lambs 22/- to 24/5, forward half bred wethers lambs 21/6 to 23/-, medium halfbred wether lambs 17/- to 18/6, small and inferior wether lambs 12/6 to 15/6, cull lambs 10/- to 12/-. Pat lambs: 3200 entered. A good sale at full export rates. Best 32/- to 33/7, prime 28/6 to 31/6, medium 25/6 to 28/-, light 23/- to 25/-. Pat sheep: Average entry with more wethers. Butchers’ sheep were inclined to ho easier but lighter sorts taken by exporters ,at about last week’s values. Eytra prime wethers 32/6 to 36/-, prime wethers 28/0 to 31/-, medium 25/6 to 28/-, light wethers 21/- to 25/-, extra prime ewes 25/to 28/-, prime ewes 19/6 to 24/- medium 17/- to 19/-, light ewes 14/- to 16/6, aged ewes 12/- to 13/6. Fat cattle. A small entry of 384 head including many cows of indifferent qua! it}'. For quality mediumweight beef there was a- shade of improvement in values, but inferior stuff was unchanged. Best beef made 36/fo 39/- per 100 lbs., some eases 40/-, medium quality 33/- to 36/-, heavyweight 32/- to 34/-, medium cow beef 36/- to 29/-; prime heavy; steers ■ £ls to £l6/12/6, medium weight prime steers £l2 to £l4/15/-, light stcors £8 to £ll/10/-, prime heifers £lO/15/--to £l2/12/6, medium heifers £B/5/- to £9/10/-, light heifers £5 to £7/10/-, prime cows £B/10/- to £l2/17/6, ordinary cows £6/10- to £B/10/-, light and aged cows £4/10/- to £6/5/-. ■Voalcrs: A small entry of a spirited sale. Best, 12 to 18 months sorts made to £9/3/-, voalcrs £3/5/- to £O. Store cattle; A poor showing mostly cows and bulls. Cows made to' £5 and bulls to £B. Dairy cattle: A fair entry ttiid a bright sale.. Best second to • fourth ealvers £9/10/- to £l2/10/-, medium £7/10/- to £9, inferior £5 to £7, best heifers £9 to £l4, others £5 to £B/10/-. Fat pigs: An exceptionally heavy entry of porkers, the sale for which opened weakly but firmed -up towards the end. Farmers bought for fattening and there wore also operators for .export. Bacon firmed on late, rites. Choppers £2 to £3 .18/6, porkers' 34/to 45/-, average per lb. sd. to 6d. baconers 50/- to 72/6, average'per lb. 4d. to 51d. Store pigs: A dragging sale with a tendency towards easier prices. Weaners 9/- to 14/-, slips 8/- to 12/-, small stores 14/- to 18/-, medium ]?/- to 24/-, extra large to 33/-.
