BOY SCOUTS MOVEMENT ADVANCING

all-round progress REPORTED TO EXECUTIVE. A mooting' of the executive of the Manawatu ’Boy Scouts' Association was held last evening, Mr N. D. Stubbs occupying the chair. There were also present Lady Cubmaster Elliott, Commissioner Sandlo, Messrs Lync, Grigor, Wright, White, iltshire and the secretary (Mr Turnbull). It was decided to hold a church parade at St. Andrew’s at a date to be arranged and advertised in the near future, at which Peter’s Pole, which was won by the Te Awe Awe cub pack ,is to be presented. Commissioner Sandlo eulogised the good work done by Scoutmaster Cutler during his term as Scoutmaster of Central Troop. Mr Cutler has been transferred to the South Island ,and the executive regrets losing the services of a keen scout and a worthyleader. The thanks of the executive were expressed to Mr Wright, who ban for some weeks past taken a number of Scouts to the river to encourage them in the art of swimming. The Commissioner stated that he intended taking a number of Scouts for an outing on Saturday next, and wishes all Scouts who would like to join the happy throng to be at his residence, Moerangi Stx-ect, at 9 a. in. Mr Wiltshire, who has taken charge of the Eongburn Scout Troup, was welcomed by the chairman. Appreciation was expressed of the good work done by Keys' Pont and Brown during their terms as Scoutmasters of Longburn and Tc Awe Awe Troops respectively. Arrangements are to be made to have Scouts in attendance at the Rotary conference, to be held shortly in Palmerston North. The meetings of the executive are to bo held on the third Thursday in each month, when reports of the activities of each troop aro to be handed in writing to Mr Lyne for publication. The chairman extended an invitation to members of the executive, and their frinds to attend the Tc Awe Awe Scout evening to be held shortly. Reports handed in by the Scoutmasters show that the Scout movement is steadily advancing, and the boys had all settled down to their training after the holidays. This week eight Cubs have been trans. ferred from the To Awe Awe Cuh Pack to the Scout Troop, which indicates that the movement is a very live one.
