The many friends of Mrs. W. Beck, Fitzhcrbcrfc street, will learn ■with regret of her death, which took place yesterday morning at a private hospital. At yesterday’s meeting of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Dairy Farmers’ Union tho chairman, Mr. P. J. Small, took tho opportunity of welcoming Mr. J. M'Farland, a foundation member of the branch, who attended the meeting. At yesterday’s meeting of the Wellington provincial branch of the Dairy Farmers’ Union, the secretary was instructed to write to Mr. Neil Campbell expressing the branches wish for his speedy recovery from an indisposition which prevented him from attending the meeting. At the sixteenth annual conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, which opned la-st night at Christchurch, the president (Bev. W. J.- Elliott, of Auckland) delivered the presidential address. Mr J. W. Shackelford (Auckland) was elected vice-president for 1928, and the Bev. J. F. Goldie (one of the Solomon Islands, missionaries) was chosen president for 1928.
