GIRL GUIDES 5 CAMP. On Tuesday evening tlie local girl guides, to the number of 16, returned after a week’s camp held at the Manßwatu Heads. Miss A. Kebbell, of Levin, district commissioner, and Mrs. B. M. Stanley, of the local company, were in charge of the girls. The weather proved ideal and a very happy and useful time was spent. The girls were divided into two patrols so that tho camp duties (which were all carried out by the girus) were changed each day, and full advantage was taken of tho beach. Competitions featuring camp life and camp fire scenes were held each evening. On the evening before break up each patrol provided entertainment in turn. Solos, part songs, and a playctte were .given and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The fun of the camp was in no wise diminished by the fact that Captain Stanley and one of the girls celebrated their birthdays while in camp. These were celebrated around a camp lire by the breakers. Visitors’ day was held on Saturday last, when mothers and friends of the girls were present. The guides voted the outing the best ever and will eagerly look forward to the next. All returned home with a good coat of tan. Credit is duo to Miss Kebbell and Mrs. Stanley for their splendid organization, and to the general committee of ladies for help given. MEETING OP COMMITTEE At a meeting of the Fox ton Beach Committee Mr. A. Dawick, who pre sided, was elected chairman for the year. The secretary reported that the sports and various entertainments had resulted in a profit of about £BO. It was decided to approach the Harbour Board and ask for someone to bo appointed to keep the road on to the beach clear of sand. Tho chairman, secretary, and Mr. J. Nairn were appointed to obtain all tho information they can with regard to forming a town board at tho beach settlement, and to report at the next meeting to be held at tho beach at Easter time. It was decided to bring the life saving reel in from the ocean beach during the winter months. The matter of a separate school was discussed and it was resolved to keep it before the authorities as the attendance is now about 60 pupils which it was considered, warranted a separate school. It was decided to erect conveniences at' the public hall to comply, with the regulations.
