DOING AWAY WITH DAZZLING LIGHTS
Tentative Provisions Under New Regulations UNIFORMITY IN MOTOR CONTROL (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Public Works Department is circulating draft Regulations tinder the Vehicles Act 1921 to all bodies interested in the Dominion. Tho official statement with the draft states that the Regulations have been prepared with a view to obtaining uniformity throughout New Zealand in tho essential requirements of motor vehicle control. Although considerable care and thought have been given to their compilation it is not claimed they are perfect and for this reason they are being submitted to all authorities likely to bo interested for lha purpioso of enabling constructive criticism to be received which may add to their value, before they are finally issued. This course is considered to be particularly desirable as although the Regulations are to be issued by the Government it will bo for local bodies in common of course with the Police Department, to see to their administration and enforcement. Tho problem of headlights is one of the most difficult of those . dealt with and it has been considered, advisable t.o place tho provision dealing with the adjusting of headlights in an alternative form for tho time being. After an opportunity for criticism has been given it will then be decided whether to insist upon all headlights being adjusted or only thlose not so constructed or equipped as to be of an efficient anti-dazzle nature. Motorists and others affected arc requested to Communicate with the Public Works before December Ist.
