For the first time in the history of the world the British Broadcasting Company’s announcer will say on Friday evening: “This is BBC calling British Isles, British Empire, United States of America, Continent of Europe from London, England.’’ The Prince of Wales’ voice will bo hoard throughout the world when ho makes his speech at Albert Hall. Every part of the Empire is cooperating as well as America, Franco, Holland, Italy, Spain, and Germany. It is estimated that within l-15th of a second after the word is spoken it will be heard in Australia, and after l-13th of second in Canada and the United States. Painstaking experiments have been carried out night and day by the BBC engineers to ensure world-wide transmission, and given fairly satisfactory atmospheric conditions, the broadcast should carry around the globe, constituting a veritable romance of wireless. Assuming the Prince of Wales makes his speech at 8 p.m., English time, he should be hoard locally at about 8.30 a.m., summer time, this morning.
