POHANGINA VALLEY
D.T.U. MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Dohangina Valley branch, of the Dairy Farmers' Union was held at Pohangina on Saturday evening. The vice-presi-dent, Mr. J. T. Moar, presided over a good attendance. An apology for absence was received from the president, Mr. J. D. Balmer. The monthly report of the Wellington provincial executive committee was read and discussed, various matters being explained by the local member, Mr. G. Wagstaif. Shearing Delayed. The recent wet weather has seriously hindered shearing operations in the Valley, and, as the Utawai is coming forward very rapidly, most sheepfarmers would appreciate a week or two of fine weather. Stock in general is in first class order, dairy returns being the highest for many years, Top-drcss-ing of hill country has been carried out somewhat extensively during the past six months, with the result that all classes of sheep, particularly Down lambs appear to bo in excellent condition, and good drafts of fat iambs are anticipated when the freezing works open..
