POULTRY, PIGEON AND CANARY ASSN.

ANNUAL MUEETTNvr. Mr. W. Greig presided over a large attendance of members of the North Island Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association at their annual meeting on Wednesday evening. A letter from the Franklin Poultry Club, with headquarters at Pukekohe, was read to the meeting. Their delegate, it stated, had been instructed to move that tho annual meetings of the N.l.P..P.and C. Association be held alternately at Auckland, Napier, New Plymouth, and Palmerston North. Tho letter which was written to the Onehunga Poultry Club, asked that body to give support in the matter. Mr. J. Nixon stated that as a delegate of the Pukekohe and Onehunga Poultry Clubs, he had been instructed to bring the matter forward. There was, he said, no doubt that the meetings should be held in various centres. It was not fair to expect all the delegates to come to Palmerston North every year. If the meetings were not hold in the various centres he thought that the Association would soon go to the wall. * The chairman thought the matter was largely one of finance. Were the various clubs willing to share in the expense of shifting tho venue of the meetings. The question was fully discussed by the meeting, it eventually being decided that the secretary should write to the various clubs and ascertain whether they would ho prepared to stand a share of the expenses inevitably entailed In the suggestion. It was decided that the next annual mooting be held in Palmerston North and that the headquarters would remain in Palmerston North for the ensuing year. A suggestion was put forward by thc chairman that the secretary be empowered to write the secretaries of the affiliated Societies asking them it thir clubs would bo prepared for balloting for birds to bo obtained from the Old Country. The successful Club would import the birds required and sell the eggs to the other clubs. In five years, the chairman thought, every club would get a trio of birds. After a little discussion the motion was carried on a show of hands. A further motion that the secretary write to the New Zealand Poultry Association to the effect that it take up with the Government tho matter of importing birds for fresh blood for the Wallacevillo Experimental Farm, was carried unanimously. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. ,W. Grey; Vice-presidents, Messrs. C. F. Purton and J. F. Brice. Secretary, Mr. T, Bruce.
