"THE MARRIAGE CLAUSE.” An intensely human story, done in the inimitable style which made Lois Weber one of the screen’s greatest producers before her retirement a few years ago, graces the screen of the Lyceum Theatre finally to-day at 2.30 and again to-night. It is “The Marriage Clause,” a Universal-Jewel production, and Miss Weber’s first directorial effort since she returned to the screen as a director and a writer. It is a vivid human document of a girl’s rise from obscurity to stardom on the stage, of her mental and psychological changes. COMING MONDAY. “GOING CROOKED.” A thrilling, suspense-holding mystery comedy drama shot with humor and a story that is of absorbing interest. Not only the material of one of the best films seen here in months mature this picture, “Going Crooked,” but a cast including Bessie Love, Gustav Von Seyffertitz, Oscar Shaw, Leslie Fenton. Lydia Knott, Edwin Kennedy and others almost equally well known, interpret the fascinating roles in a way to bring out to >cst advantage this Interesting story. “Going Crooked” is a tale of an assistant district attorney who falls in mve with a beautiful adventuress, who is a member- of a gang of jewel thieves. And since Bessie Love is this intriguing person, the attorney cannot bo blamed .o: going crooked for her sake. In doing this he saves her from the gang and brings about their downfall.
