A London cable announces the death of Colonel Robert Owen, Commander of the Third Australian Battalion.
Sir Joseph Cook,, High Commissioner for Australia, has been instructed to retain office till Mr. Pyrie arrives, states a London cable.
The Commonwealth has nominated Mr. A. Collins to succeed Mr. Coghlan on the Pacific Cable Board, states a message from London.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Tauranga County Council, Mr. K. L. Pearless , tendered his resignation as County Engineer, which was accepted with regret, states a Press Assoclatibn message.
The friends of Mr. I. W. Hudfora i who is an inmate of the Wellington Hospital where he underwent . an operation on Thursday will bo pleased to know that he is progressing as well as can be expected.
