LONDON’S OLDEST WOMAN
■FIVE YEARS OVER UENTURY. Believed to be the oldest woman in London, Mrs. Martha Tyler has celebrated her 105th birthday in St. John’s Hospital, Wandsworth. Until months ago she lived in her own home in the district. Mrs. Tyler is a charming woman,” said one of the hospital officials. “ She is a little deaf and partly blind, but she can enjoy a .chat, and when services are held in’,the ward she always joins in the singing of hymns. Considering her age. she has a wonderfully good appetite.” Mrs. Tyler remembers Battersea as a pretty village. She went to London by stage coach from Norwich S 3 years ago. •' .-At one time St; John’s Hospital had a patient aged Ip4, but there is no rc-cord-;-C)f anyone of Mrs. Tyler’s age ever having been an inmate.
