WELLINGTON, Last Night-vV Rosa Firth proceeded against George William W6od -a butcher, m the Supreme Court, seeking an order for £1 per week maintenance la respect of an adopted 'child. A decree ! j absolute was made in September, since V ’ which both parties have re-marrlcd. Mr Justice MacGregor said that tho court had given the custody of the child to the petitioner. He was satisfied that respondent bad a legal responsibility, although the other husband would bo liable if tho child became destitute. ' . . It had been submitted that petitioner and her husband wore In sucn a good financial position that no order should be made against respondent, who ia was said, was not in a position to pay. • l . Respondent was doing good business and could evidently afford toi pay fl per week. Petitioner’s husband was unable to work and the two were not in a wealthy position.
The order asked, for was made as from January 1.
