BROADCASTING NEWS OF WORLD
IMPORTANT FUTURE WORK OF WIRELESS. [By Electric Cable-Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, April 3. H.' G. Wells, in an exclusive article in thp “Daily Express,” says that the future of broadcasting, like the future of tho crossword puzzles and Oxford trousers, is very trivial. 1 “Indeed, it would be interesting to know how many original sets have been smashed up or have ceased 11st-ening-in. What is wanted is not impartial, impersonal, unsectarian, noncontroversial, unprejudeed, kindly stuff through loud-speakei's, but an invention such as the tape machine allowing the wireless recording on a simple set. of news events of the world broadcast by, somebody knowing his job.” Incidentally, wireless licenses have grown from 10,000’to 4,750,000. The boat race between Oxford and Cambridge was faultlessly broadcasted throughout England from a launch following. closely. This succeeded a superb broadcast of the Grand National, while there arc elaborate preparations to broadcast the Derby.
