Stratton, who was arrested, has been remanded on a charge of murdering Daisy Mayes, a pretty brunette girl. The police gave evidence that accused made the following statement: “I was deterxnind that if ,1 couldn’t have her nobody eles would. I had been waiting for, a favourable opportunity to ’do her in.* After an argument in the train I pulled out a piece of iron from my pocket struck hep on the head and then stabbed her with a knife.” The girl had 24 wounds.
