A CELEBRATED PIG

BROUGHT TO COURT. A MORRINSVILLE DISPUTE. As a sequel to a case heard in the Morrinsville Court last month, when a criminal charge against Edward Pollard for stealing a Tamworth pig fiom a neighbour named Leman was dismissed, a case for the possession of the pig was heard at Morrinsville on Thursday. Leman, who claimed the pig, gave 'evidence as to having purchased it from- a Mr. taken it home and put it in a sty, from which it escaped and strayed to' Pollard’s place. He had gone to Pollard’s place and recognised it amongst others a s the one he had lost. He had also got Robinson, who had bred the pig, to examine it, and Robinson said it was the one ho had sold to Leman. However, Dollard refused to hand over tho pig. J- T. Robinson and P. Cowerfi, an expert judge of pigs, gave supporting evidence, Pollard called witnesses who were equally sure that the pig in dispute was one of his own breeding. Mr, Johnson, on behalf of Pollard, addressed the court at length, and reviewed the evidence in his favour. Mr. McPherson, did the same for Leman. The Magistrate, after viewing the pig outside the court, decided thatthe weight of evidence was in Leman’s favour .and gav e judgement accordingly for possession of the pig.
