WOODVILLE TOPICS

The local Gun Club held a shoot on Mr Hartrldge’s property yesterday (Wednesday). Excellent weather conditions prevailed and there was a moderate attendance of members. The following' are the results of the competitions held:— Third Round, Mackie Cup, (12 bird match): R. G. Smith (15yds.), 9 birds; C. Mackie (15yds.), 9 birds; J., T. Kearns (15yds.), 8 birds. Eight Bird Sweepstake: J. Horne (12yds) 5 birds and J. T. Kearns (15 yds.) 5 birds .tied. Eight Bird Sweepstake: J. Horne (11yds), 6 birds; R. G. Smith, F. Mackie, T. Kearns and C. Mackio ( S birds. The shoot off for second place in the event was won by C. Mackie. The Women’s Institute held a picnic at the Gorge on Thursday. Glorious weather prevailed and there was a good muster of members, who spent a happy day at the favourite picnicking ground. The local trainer, Mr. T. Lloyd has once again done the trick with Piuthair by winning the Wanganui Cup on Thursday.
