The Aorangi, en route to Auckland, hacked into the United States submarine R 5, then glanced off, smashing completely through the quarantine pier, wrecking the sheds and doing damage to the extent of £SOOO. The Aorangi, which was in charge ©f a pilot at the time, was unharmed and proceeded on her voyage. SUBMARINE BADLY DAMAGED. (Received Sunday. 7 p.m.) HONOLULU, Dec. 24. Local investigators blame the Aorangi for the collision with R 5. The submarine is badly twisted, the bows being deflected ten degrees from the normal.
