GOOD WHEAT HARVEST EX-

BUSINESS EXTREMELY DULL. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 14. Business l is dull, and little activity need be expected until after the holidays. The reports of the wheat crops point to the prospect of a good yield. In addition the harvest promises’ to bo quite a fortnight earlier than usual. There is a cessation of business at the moment in view of the new season's crop, and as Australian flour quotations continue to obscure the issue, nominally values on trucks range about 6s 9d per bushel; but business at this figure is small, if at ail. In the absence oi actual business, quotations for now season’s seeds are more or less nominal. Perennial ryegrass is mentioned at 3s to 3s 6d per bushel on trucks: Italian (of which there is a big carry-over) up to 2s. Cocksfoot (which is again a short crop on the Peninsula), 6d to 7d per lb; white clover, 9d; red clover, Sd. Algerian oats are quoted at 2s 3d to 3s 6d per bushel on trucks, and in view of the fact that white oats are still fairly plentiful in store in the south, the market for them is without life. With, a knowledge of the stocks in this Island, northern traders are buying only as oats are wanted. . , The quotation for potatoes, mam crop delivery, remains about £3 10s per ton on trucks.
