MINERS’ REIGN OF TERROR

The “Evening News” says: “A vendetta amounting to a reign of terror exists in the West Lothian mining villages of Stoneyhurn and Breich against the safety men and miners who resumed work before the conclusion of the coal strike. There have been several attempts to blow up houses with explosives. Shops have been ransacked and children beaten. Gelignite was used to blow up EoulshiekPs colliery. Electric cable safety men declare that they were twice fired at by revolvers from a swiftlypassing motor car. The outrages are so persistent that Stoneyhurn has been nicknamed “Moscow” and Brcjch ‘Siberia.”
