Present quotations are: Dutch, 30s to 32s per long 100; English and Danish, 26s to 28s 6d per long 100; Belgian, 23s to 26s per long 100; Australian, 18s to 19s per long 100; South African, 14s to 17s 9d per long 100; Argentine, Russian, Polish and Chinese, 11s 3d to X6s 6d per long 100.

Woo!—Sales closed yesterday (Friday), competition throughout fairly general, but small French support. Merino principally taken for Continent, particularly Germany, crossbred for Home trade. Better feeling owing to settlement of coal strike. Slight improvement in crossbred since opening. Compared with last closing rates, best merino 5 per cent, lower; fine crossbred par; medium crossbred and coarse crossbred par to 5 per cent, lower. There were 120,000 bales catalogued, of which 93,000 were sold, Continent taking 48,000, Home trade 44,000 and America 1000.

Average closing values are; GO to C4's (merino), Is 61d to 2s Old; 56’s (super halfbred), Is Sd to Is lOtd: 4S to BO’s (fine crossbred). Risal Tow scarce and market firm. First grade quoted £3 3. New Zealapd highpoints still not in demand, but

fair inquiry for lower grades. De-ccmber-February shipments quoted highpoints £3S 10s. and fair £3G ss.
