FEILDING A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

COMMITTEE MEETING. The general committee of the Feilding A. and P. Association met On Friday evening Mr E. E. Short presiding. Regarding the Association’s proposal'respecting a naval gun display for the forthcoming show, the Commodore of H.M.S, Dunedin, wrote regretting inability to provide the gun-team, as the ships would be away from port during the period of the show. The Meat Board wrote granting permission for the carcases of show sheep to bo shipped Homo forjudging purposes, aa a separate parcel. The Feilding Bacon Coy. notified that they - would bo pleased to render all assistance, possible in regard to killing and freezing show-pigs in the export class, and forwarding «amo to London. In connection with the Association’s recommendation to the Auctioneers* Association that the pooling system tn connection with the Ram Fair be abolished, the Auctioneers’ Association „ wrote expressing the View that the ssystem possessed advantages which made its retention desirable.

The chairman said that no good ■purpose would be served by going into the matter at this late stage,

but the Association should certainly take up the question of abolishing pooling, immediately after the next Fair.

Mr Sandilands thought that action should bo taken right away, and moved a resolution that the Association is not in favour of pooling, and that rams entered by a firm should bo sold on behalf of that firm.

Mr E. P. C. Swainson supported the motion, and stated that the elimination of pooling would be to the benefit ot the vendor and the Individual auctioneers.

Mr P. Roddy did not agree that, the motion should be pushed at this late stage, and moved an amendment that the matter be referred to the Ram Fair committee with power to act.

In supporting the amendment Mr A.- Campbell remarked that the Auctioneers’ Association would have to understand that in the future the Ram Fair would have to be conducted without the pooling system.

Mr C. G. C. Dormer believed that practically all vendors wore against the pooling system, but it was too late to do anything for the forthcoming Fair. He did not think it wise to make a break with the auctioneers.

Mr A. Kidd: Why a break? There will not bo any break. Following further discussion, the amendment was carried, and the meeting approved or a further motion definitely instructing the Ram

Fair committee that in future years there bo no pool. The thanks of the Association were accorded Messrs Boddy and Swainson for the work they had carried out in connection with a draining scheme on the Association's grounds. In connection with the opening of the show, it was decided to extend an invitation to the Governor-Gen-eral and the Ministers of Lands and Agriculture to bo preesnt. The matter of supplying a fat bullock and fat sheep for the guessing competitions was loft in the hands of Messrs M. A. McLeod and Swainson.

To assist Wairarapa exhibitors, the secretary (Mr E. H. Fisher) reported that ho had consulted with the Business Manager of the Railways, with a view to expediting the delivery of stock to Feilding. Considerable hold-up took place at Palmerston North after the stock arrived from the Wairarapa, with the result that, they were not received at Feilding until late at night, and this made their handling a difficult matter.

The Business Manager had said that the Railway Department was prepared to do all in its power to facilitate the delivery of stock, and would undertake to meet the requirements of the Association.

The matter was loft in the hands of the secretary to deal with, aftei consultation with the Wairarapa exhibitors.
