DIVIDEND OF 121 PER CENT. [By Electric Cable—Copyright.) [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Thursday, 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 4. At -the half-yearly meeting’ of the Colonial Sugar Company, the report shows that the net profits in Australia were £254,124 for the six months ended September 39. while the net earnings in New Zealand and Fiji were £154,320. Compared -with the previous halfyear, Australian profits increased by £53,563, whilst New Zealand and Fiji decreased by £41;223. A dividend and bonus of 12i per cent for tho year was declared, absorbing £304,687, and the sum of £loo,ooo' was added to the reserve, and £3,756 carried forward. Regarding Fiji, the chairman mentioned that the company had secured two more properties in order to consolidate its position. One of the purchases covered land owned by the Penang .Company, containing the only other sugar mill in Fiji. The drought had seriously affected both this and next year’s Fiji crops. The Company had no intention of moving its Auckland refineries.
