THE LYCEUM

VANE GREY'S “WILD HORSE MESA.” . . The management of the Lyceum have secured another big special which attracted a big house last night and will bo screened finally to-night, in Zano Grey’s famous novel, “Wild Horse Mesa.” Zano Grey is without a peer when it comes to devising dynamic plots that vibrate with redblooded action, unique thrills and appealing romance, and in “Wild Horse Mesa,” he is at his supreme best. The story depicts in gripping manner the barbarous scheme of a gang of horse thieves and outlaws to capture several thousand wild horses by stampeding them into a barbed wire trap. Jack Holt, who portrays the leading role, covers himself with dramatic glory, and, gives a superb exhibition of horsemanship skill. Noah Beery handles the “bad man” part with his usual finesec: Billie Dove, charming and lovely, furnishes the love interest; and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., wins new laurels with his characterisation. Coining To-morrow—“ His Majesty BUNKER BEAN.” For screen gayety of spirit there la no better photoplay than "Hia Majesty Bean,’’ which commences to-morrow at tho Lyceum Theatre. This Warner Bros, picturisation of the Harry Leon Wilson 'story has Matt Moore and Dorothy Devore in the featured roles, supported by a sparkling cast, and directed by Harry Beaumont Tho picture concerns the metamorphosis of Bunker Bean, a shy, retiring clerk who is convinced by two charlatans that he is the reincarnation of an Egyptian king, and who, as a result, gains power, conlidtmco, great wealth and a beautiful wife. It’s perfect entertainment.
