LARGEST SEAPLANE
BIG PREA CH MACHINE The largest seaplane in the world, weighing 20 tons, and with a wing span of 120 ft. has been launched at St. Nazairo. It is fitted with five engines which develop 2100 h.p. and its trials, which were carried out at the mouth of the Loire in a rough sea gave complete satisfaction. Among the characteristics are;-—• All live engines controlled electrically from the pilot’s seat. Automatic (ire extinguishers which operate immediately in the case of any abnormal heat of the engines. Engines started by compressed air. No. .1 engine can be completely dismantled and set up again in flight. Speed S 5 to 00 miles an hour, capacity 20 passengers and luggage. If is hoped that the seaplane will be able to fly the Atlantic with its full load and only three out of its five engines working.
