EXPORT OF FRUIT
GOVERNMENT GUARANTEE TO CONTINUE. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Oct. 2S. The Government will continue the guarantee in connection with the coming season’s export of fruit, but in a now form. The former guarantee provided for Id per pound profit to the grower on exported fruit. Under the altered arrangement, the Government will guarantee up to 10s 6d per case of the expenses involved in packing and marketing. By a grading and inspection system, and export regulations, the Government will insure itself against the export of unsuitable fruit. There is no specified limit to the quantity of exported fruit covered by the guarantee. It applies to both apples and pears. COOL STORAGE SATISFACTORY. 1 - NBLSON, Last Night. The cool storage of fruit is proceeding satisfactorily. The greater qauntity of fruit in the Motueka cool stores has been shipped, only some 18,000 cases remaining. The fruit is keeping jn excellent condition, free from “break down,” or what is known as flesh collapse.
