NEGRO DOCTORS
PURELY A COLOUR PROBLEM. PROBABLE' INVASION FROM AMERICA. LONDON, Oct. 17. The leading medical schools of the London hospitals will shortly be called on to decide whether they will allow negro doctors from America in some considerable numbers to watch their surgeons performing operations and studying British medical methods generally. The point has been raised by a letter which has been sent to London hospitals from the American Medical Congress asking for facilites for 75 leading negro doctors from all parts of the United States. if permission were given the delegation would probably arrive here next June. "I have had a letter asking for these facilities at the London Hospital.” said Professor Wright, Dean of the London Hospital Medical School, to an “Evening Standard” representative to-day. “No doubt others have received a similar communicavAon. ‘‘The matter is by no means a foregone conclusion. It will need careful consideration. At the moment it seems to me that there will be difficulty unless all the schools agree. Wo do not W'ant to have a large number of negro doctors dumped on any particular hospital.
"Apparently the best way to decide the matter would be by a joint conference at which unanimity would be desirable. It is purely a question of colour.”
