BUNNYTHORPE PICTURE CIRCUIT
“THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.” It is with more than ordinary pride that the management of the Bunnythorpe Theatre announces the advent of Paramount’s great picture, "The Ton Commandments,” al that theatre. Since the release of this great screen masterpiece in New Zealand there arc a few facts concerning it that will bo of considerable interest to local picture patrons. Almost without exception it has established records everywhere. It will be remembered that its release was made concurrent with the opening of three of the biggest the-- 1 litres in the Southern Hemisphere—the Prince Edward in Sydney, the Capitol in Melbourne, and the Do Luxe in Wellington. At all of those theatres it played for record long run seasons. The reception accorded "The Ten Commandments” in New Zealand is without parallel in the history of entertainments in this country. It is interesting to note some of the achievements of the picture here. To date it has run for four seasons in Auckland, making a total of fourteen weeks run- —four seasons in Wellington, making a total of five weeks’ run; two seasons in Christchurch and Dunedin. In all of these cases day and night shows have been continuous, and in some cases the picture has been shown in at least two theatres simultaneously. Another fact of interest in regard to “The Ten Commandments" is that more copies of the film have been brought into New Zealand than any other film ever brought hero. This is due not only to the fact of the delicate nature of the film but also to the great work that it has been put to. Those people who have not seen “The Ten Commandments,” therefore., are assured of seeing the film in its entirety and under the very best conditions.
Getting away from homo there are other facts peculiar to “The Ten Commandments,” and this picture alone. It has been translated into thirteen different languages, including French, German, Danish, Spanish. Italian. Swedish and Norwegian. Rome idea therefore may he conceived of the enormous task of handling the picture throughout the world. p t It is worthy of mention that The Ten Commandments” has had the unstinted support of the clergy- educational bodies and the ress throughout New Zealand. T < • been recognised not only as a great entertainment, but as the greatest moral document that has ever been released to the civilised world. Sermons have been preached on the picture by the clergy Of all de nominations, and it has generally been accepted ns a factor for go °f. ■.Tim Ten Commandments’ will commence screening at Bunnythorpe Picture Circuit Theatre on her Ist. and will continue for a season of six nights.
