SANATORIUM FOR SICK ANIMALS
ENGLISH LADY’S BENEFICENCE. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, Oct. 13. A remarkable sanatorium for sick animals is being established on 30 acres near Ilford, including an animal hospital, operating rooms, X-ray chambers and a college for training prevention of cruelty assistants. There will even be a sanctuary, with nesting boxes for birds. The sick animals in the wards will never be left unattended. Nurses will be relieved every eight hours. A telephone message at any hour of the day or night will enable an ambulance to bo sent to a casualty.
The sanatorium is possible owing to the will of Mrs. Sarah Grove-Grady, who left £IOO,OOO, which was a sixth of her estate, to institutions devoted to the care of dogs, cats and pit ponies. The residue was to be devoted to the creation of an animal benevolent institute.
The will of Mrs. Sarah Orovo-Grady, an octogenarian, of Crowborough, expressed abhorrence of the killing of creatures for sport, including fish.
