Miss I. Dent, of the Foxton school staff, returned to her duties on Wednesday after 3 weeks’ leave of absence.
Mr. W. Granlicld, Otaki, who is still in Palmerston North hospital, is reported to bo benefiting by the treatment ho is receiving.
Dr. S. T. Martin, resident medical officer at the Palmerston North Hospital, forwarded his resignation to the Hospital Board yesterday.
The friends of Mr. J. S. Watchorn, snr., wil regret to learn that he is still confined to hospital, through serious trouble to one of his feet.
Miss E. Owen, of the staff of the Wellington Hospital, who has been on a brief visit to her parents in Foxton, returned to Wellington yesterday morning.
Nurse Wallace, of tho Patca hospital, has been appointed district nurse at Mangahao camp, vice Nurse Prain, resigned, and will comnionco duties on November 1.
Col. Carmichael, of the Salvation Army, proceeds to-day to Waipukurau and will spend the week-end at Napier and Hastings. Staff-. Captain Charker goes to W'anganui for Sunday, and Staff-Captain Perry to Hawera.
Col Symons, of the British Pavements, Ltd., accompanied by Mr. Crowe, engineer for Restar, Ltd., arrived in Foxton yesterday afternodn, and will confer with the Public Works committee of the Borough Council in regard to the permanent streets to be laid down by the Council.
Mr. Mack, secretary of the A.S.R.S., is about to retire on superannuation after 40 years’ service with the De-pa-tmont. Ho was 18 years in his present position. In 1911 he unsuccessfully contested the Parnell seat for Labour. In 1918 he was again unsuccessful at the by-eelction for Wellington Central, when Mr. P. Fraser, official candidate for the Labour Party, was returned.
Mrs Hulme, of .Christchurch, arrived in Palmerston North on Tuesday under engagement with the Palmerston North Operatic Society to produce during Spring Show' week the 2-act musical play “Miss Hook of Holland." As an old Pollard favourite Mi'S Hulme (nee Miss Eva Moore) is well known, firstly as an actress of outstanding ability, and latterly as a producer of amateur opera second to none in the Dominion. Mrs Hulme has already taken control of practices of principals and chorus and is particularly pleased with the material she has to work on this year.
