END OF ADVENTUROUS TRIP
liATJNCH DANTWESS SINKS AT MOORINGS. [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Hast Night. The motor-launch Dauntless, which was picked up by the Maori yesterday with her occupants, McNeill, McLean and Breen, sank at her mooring this morning. The littlo craft was moored with other launches in front of the Coronation Hail. She had been bailed out yesterday. There was a strong surge in the harbour, and several of the •small craft wore damaged. The Dauntless’ stern, which apparently had been strained whilst she was being taken on board the Maori, gave way, and the vessel sank at her moorings. This morning there was a large band of willing helpers, mostly watersiders, assisting McNeill to haul his little craft from the bottom of the harbour. On raising it to the waterline, it was found to have a damaged stern.
