CROQUET. The opening- of the Wednesday competitions took place on Wednesday. The results were as follow: —
Social. On Tuesday evening a complimentary card evening was tendered to Mrs C. A. Pearson by the members of No. 1 Group of the Plunket Committee. A dainty supper was provided by the ladies of the group. At, supper time, Mr. W. Trueman asked Mrs. Pearson to accept a handsome cushion and a box of handkerchiefs as a small token of appreciation from the ladies of the group. Mrs. Pearson had placed her residence at the disposal of the group and had also done her share of the work. The Plunket Society were greatly indebted to her. Two very beautiful bouquets were also presented to Mrs. Pearson. Rev. W. H. Walton replied on Mrs. Pearson's behalf. He said the recipient was always to the fore in any good work. He thanked the ladies of the group for their token of appreciation. The prize-winners for the 500 were: Ladies, Mrs. R. Bryant and Miss 10, Wanklyn tie, Miss Wanklyn winning the cut. Gent.’s, Mr. J. Thomson. Ladies’ consolation, Miss M. Walker. Gont.’s consolation, Mr. W. McKnight.
