MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SHORT SITTING. Messrs. K. H. Fisher ami James Penney, Js’P., presided over the fortnightly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court held yesterday. I’Ted Hoult pleaded not guilty t<r a charge of leaving his car at night insufficiently lighted. ' The police evidence was thax the head-lights of the ca r were on, but the tail light was off. Defendant said that he loft his car with all lights going, and something must have caused the tail light to go out, as it had been operating ever since. A fine of 10s was imposed and na costs. A large number of cases concerning breaches of the Borough by-laws as affecting the speed of motor vehicles, were adjourned until October 28. Judgment By Default. [ Judgment for plaintiff by default [was given in the following cases:— Charles Millen v. P. G. Budd, £lO Is 1 7d, costs £2 14s: Fair's; Ltd., v. F. [Churcher, £3 19s 2d. costs £2 7 S Od: H. P. Hitchman v. C. Tarrant, £2 3s Od, costs £1 3s 6d; same v. E. Jackman, (is 6d, costs Ss; H. S. Street v. Alfred Prince, £4 11s, costs £1 13s.
