h. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A sale of Bank of Australasia shares at £l4 5a reported - at the morning call was the only transaction recorded yesterday. There was a fair demand for Government stocks and bonds, with buyers of the. 43s Per cents, at £96 10s, the 5 per cents, at £9B 15s, and the 5* per cents, at £IOO 2s 6d. "Petone and Lower Hurt 5* per cent, debentures were in demand at £95 7s 6d. J , Bank shares were steady, with buyers of National Bank of N.-o- at £7 Os Gd, Bank of New Zealand at Gls 3d. Bank of New Zealand rights at 6s 6d, Union Bank at £ls 2s, and Western Australian Bank at 57s Gd. Sellers quoted £45 10s for Bank ot New. South Wales, There wore bids of 10s Gd for New Zealand Guarantee Corporation ordinary, and 21s for the preference, 10s 5d for Wellington Investment, and 9s lid for Wellington Deposit. Christchurch Gas shares were firm at 23s 6d, and there was a bid ot 59s for South British Insurance shares. , , , „ ~ ' N.Z. Refrigerating shares, 10s paid, were wanted at 6s. ■; y Shipping shares were neglected, as wero timber shares. Taupiri Coal preference shares were steady at 235. The demand for brewery shares has eased, the only inquiry being for Staples and Co. at 37s 3d, and Dental and Medical Supply shares were firm at 16s 9d.
