SEAMAN CHARGED. REMANDED FOR A WEEK. Answering a charge that on September 22, at Palmerston North, he did steal from the Borough Council, the sum of £220 in money, Herbert Gurney, a seaman by occupation, appeared at the Palmerston North Magistmto’s Court yesterday before Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M. On the application of Senior-Detec-tive Quirko accused was remanded until next Wednesday, and, as he did not ask for bail, was removed in cus tody.
