TOLL OF THE PITS
FORTT-SIX MEN KILLED. NEW YORK, August tt. Forty-six men arc believed to bay* been killed in a shocking mining disaster art Clymer, Pennsylvania. An explosion occurred in one of tit*' pits. Only five men escaped alive. All hope for the rest of the imdesrground workers has been abandoned. Rescue parties braved the deadly gases in the mine and succeeded in •bringing out the five survivors. Three of the bodies of the killed have been recovered.
