TIVOLI THEATRE
“SCABAMOUOHE.” Last night at the Tivoli Theatre the pieturisution of Katacl Sabatini’s splendid novel of love and adventure "Scaramouche," was screened for the second time. France during the period ot the Revolution—what scope for display and sensation! And full advantage is taken of the opportunity in ".Scaramouche.'’ The title is the nickname given to a hero, a French aristocrat, who in flying from his enemies, finds safety with a troupe of players, and in their productions on the stage in Paris he plays the part of the low comedian—the Scaramouche. Hut, the enemies pursue, and they also threaten another aristocrat, the girl aristocrat in cog. falls in love with. Bitter hatred pursues, but .Scaramouch has the gift of swordsmanship, which is used to the great advantage of a. party that has been bullied. Thenceforth Scaramouche becomes (he god in the machine, with thrilling adventures, (hat keep the spectators on the edge of their seats. The mountings, the dressings and the settings are beautiful, whilst the ac tion of the story is swift-moving. It will bo screened for the last time tonight.
