ROTARY CLUE

Till; AVliliKliV LUNCHEON. Reports of the various committees were presented at tiro weekly luncheon of the Palmerston North Rotary Club yesterday, when Rotarian B. J. Jacobs presided. The secretaiy, Rotarian C. T. Salmon, reporting on behalf of the education committee, said that as a re. suit of meetings that had been held, it had been decided to have two or three addresses on Rotary education each year, as the subject was one about which many club members seemed hazy. It had also been decided to communicate with other clubs abroad, so that the conditions and general well-being of these Other Rotarians should be better known. In reporting on the work of the girls’ work committee, Rotarian RH. Billens said discussion had taken place how to raise funds for the Girl Citizens' movement, in connection with which the sum of £IOO had been promised. A campaign, » had been suggested, should he held in the middle of August. He added that it had also been suggested that a gala day, with a big domonstra. tion in the evening, be held each year, preferably in February, in order to help the funds of various organisations; direct appeal to the public bad to be avoided. It was likely, however, that a properly organised annual effort would raise £250. The work of the boys’ work committee was outlined by Rotarian do Berry. He said it had been decided to send circulars to such organisations as Ihe T.M.C.A.. the senior cadets, etc., for information that might be of use in furthering com. munity boys’ work. If the organisations circularised were sufficiently interested, if was possible that a big meeting of delegates would beheld to discuss boys’ work. Rotarian N. IT. Mackie (entertainment committee!, after referring to the social activities of tbe (Tub. expressed appreciation of the assistance of non. Rotarians. Tbe chairman announced that the club had decided to hold its luncheon on Mondays in the future, commencing next week.
