THEFT OF POSTAL PACKET

TELEGRAPH MESSENGER ADMITTED TO PROBATION.

Under the provisions of the child welfare legislation recently passed, a youthful messenger appeared before Mr R. M. Watson, S.M., at the Fellding Magistrate’s Court yesterday on two charges concerning the theft of a postal packet containing a pound note. After the circumstances of the case had been related by Sergeant Cahill,, the offender was severely admonished by the Bench. A conviction was recorded and accused ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months. Accused was also placed on probation tor a period of twelve months.

Among the cases to he dealt with at the fortnightly sitting of the Magistrate's Court to be held to-day will be a charge against the driver of a motor vehicle of drunkenness whilst in charge of the vehicle —the first of such cases to be hoard in Fcilding.
