WOMAN KILLED BY FIRE ENGINE

DRIVER COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Last Night The Newmarket fire-engine fatality on March 19, when Elizabeth Jane Power, aged sixty, was killed through being knocked down by the engine, was recalled at the Police Court today. Daniel Richard Francis Glennon. tho driver of the engine, was charged with negligently driving a fire-engine in Broadway, Newmarkpt, thereby causing the death of Elizabeth Power. The Inquest was taken In conjunction with the prosecution. A number of witnesses gave evidence as to the speed of the engine, and the circumstances of tho accident. Accused was committed for trial, bail being fixed at £IOO.
