KIMBOLTON

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The annual May fair in connection with the Kimbolton Presbyterian Church was held in the hall on Saturday afternoon and evening last. Owing lo the boisterous weather the attendanso at both sessions was not nearly so good as in past years and consequently the takings at the door and from the sale of produce, etc., snowed a considerable falling- off. This is to be regretted as the members of the congregation had worked hard during the past few weeks in an endeavour ;o make the fair as successful as on former occasions. Those in charge of the various stalls and competitions were: Mesdamcs Beard and Calder (work), Mesdames Banks and Hair (kitchen), Mrs. Ferguson and Miss Lawson (produce). Misses E. and M, Board (sweets), Misses K. Murray and M. Calder (cake), Mrs. W. V. Jones (surprise packets), Misses J. Murray and G. Krcigcr (bran tub), The tea rooms were in charge of Mesdames Craighead and Lawson.

Thu other competitions were manused by Messrs. Lawson, Caldcr, Banks Thomson, Beard, Gardner, B. Banks Jr., and others. During tho evening, the competitions were decided as follows: —Number of peas in bottle: Mr. W. L. Hesseltinc; weight of cake: Mrs. J. K. Waugh; weight of dressed turkey: Mr W. Greaves; men’s hat trimming: Mr. K. Shapleski; laides’ sewing, first heat: Mrs. W. V. Jones; second heat: Mrs. R. G. Board: third heat; Miss j. Murray; linal: Mrs. W. V. Jones; guessing doll’s name: Mr. W. L. Hesseltine; length of string; Miss Joyce Murray: peas in bottle; Mrs, Gallus; surprise packets: Miss Peggy Moore; bagatelle: Messrs. G. H. Beard and L. Bailey, a tie. The balance of tho produce was afterwards disposed of by auction. FOOTBALL. OKOUA SUB-UNION. Senior Cup.—Apiti (9) v. Kiwitca (o). Waituna (3) v. Kangiwahia
