CAPETOWN TO ENGLAND
COBiIAM’S 'RETURN FRIGHT SAFE ARRIVAL AT CROYDON: LONDON, March 13/' Mr. Alan J. Cobham arrived /at Croydon to-day, having’ completed his return flight from Capetown. He had reached Athens from El Solium, Egypt, yesterday.
Mr. Alan J. Cobham left Stag Lane, Edgware, London, on Monday, November 16, in a De Haviland 50 aeroplane, and arrived at Capetown on February 17, He thus completed a .flight of 8020 miles. Messrs. A. B. Elliott and B. W. G. Emmott accompanied Mr. Cobham as engineer and cinematographer respectively. The return flight was commenced on February 26. The more speedy time in which it has been accomplished is due to the fact that bn the outward journey Mr. Cobham had to make a detailed report for Imperial Airways of the entire route, not only from.a practical aviation point of view, taut also as regards the possibilities of developing sound commercial intermediate air routes. . . j,
