WELLINGTON DAIRY CONFERENCE

PROCEDURE AND METHOD OF VOTING DELEGATES ONLY ENTITLED TO BE PRESENT Groat interest is being shown in the conference of dairy farmers to be held in Wellington on April 28 next. The conference is called by the New Zealand Dairy Board, which made the following arrangements in connection with representation, method of voting, appointing chairman, etc.:— Business Before the Conference The conference is primarily called to discuss the method of electing the' Dairy Board -for the purpose of making a recommendation to the Government. Place of Meeting The conference will be held in the Concert Chamber, Town Hall, Cuba Street, Wellington, on Wednesday, April 28, 1926, at 10 a.m.. Delegates will note change of place of meeting from that formerly announced. Representation Each dairy company, whether cooperative or proprietary, is entitled to be represented either by an individual or by proxy. Each company will require to forward to the office of the • Board, not later than April 23, 1926,* a form of authority, duly completed ’ and signed either by the chairman or secretary, setting out the name of the person entitled to vote for the company. Unless this form of authority is forwarded to the -office of the Board, the dairy company will lose its right to vote. Basis of Voting The Board has decided to adopt as a basis of voting the decision of a conference held in Wellington on May IS, 1922. This conference was the most representative conference of, the industry ever held in New Zealand. After prolonged consideration of the 'position it decided, the following voting basis: — “Dairy companies to have one vote for every 100 tons of butter up to 500 tons, and one additional vote for every 150 tons of butter or portion thereof. Two tons of cheese to be taken as equal to one ton of butter.” The export figures of the Dairy Division for the year ended April 30, 1925, will be taken for computing the votes of each company. Voting Votes on all resolutions will be decided by calling the roll and allowing properly appointed delegates to vote “for” or “against” the resolu-, tiona. Important The Board is of the opinion that only delegates entitled to vote should be actually present at the meeting. On the basis laid down the votes of all dairy companies can be fully exercised. Mr. W. Grounds, chairman of the Dairy Board, will preside.
