TELEPHONE IN ELEVATOR
Noticing that apartment-house tenants seemed found of airing their troubles to elevator operators, tho owner of a de luxe apartment-house in New York City installed an unseen telephone in tho elevator, says “Popular Science Monthly.” As a tenant rides up or down in the elevator ishe unknowingly talks to a young man at the other end of the line, who is sitting out of sight in the entrance hall below. If she tells him about the burned-out fuse, or the leak in the sink, the matter Ja attended to at once, and the apart-ment-house gears shift smoothly. It is a greath success, according to reports in keeping the tenants content with their landlord.
