FAREWELL
TO MR. AND MRS. CLIMIE AT AWAHURI. On. Tuesday night the Presbyterian Church at Awahuri was crowded to do honour and to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Climie, who after five years’ service, are leaving to take up similar work In Napier South. The Hev. T. Miller, M.A., occupied the chair. An excellent programme was rendered, those taking part being: Mr. Matheson, vocal and organ solos; Misses Lees, solos and duets; song by Miss Doris Collins; and recitations by Misses Rona Smith, Phyllis Bond and Joan McCallum. The chairman then presented Mr. Climie with a travelling bag, pocket wallet containing notes, and fountain pen, on behalf of the congregation, and to Mrs. Climie a cak 0 stand and two cases of stainless cutlery. Mr. Bond and Mr. James Macßae also spoke on behalf of the Awahuri people, Mr. S. D. Pearce, on behalf of Rt. Paul’s Church, Fellding, and Mr. W. Cornfoot for the Bible Class District Commilttee. Mr. Climie, on behalf of himself and Mrs. Climie, suitably acknowledged the kind things Said and the valuable presents given. After the singing of a verse of the hymn, ‘‘God be with you till we meet again,” a generous supper was handed round, and a pleasant gathering brought (to a close, Mr. and Mrs. Climie were also given a garden party on Mr; and Mrs. Cranston’s grounds at Waiata on Saturday. There was a large attendance, to whom afternoon tea was served. On behalf of the congregation the Rev T. Miller presented a substantial gift of money. Mr. R. W. Brown spoke for Waiata and Mr. Walker for Aratika.
