HALCOMBE.

[From Our Own Correspondent.] At the Methodist Church on Sunday last, anniversary services were held in connection with the Sunday School. The morning service was conducted by the Rev. D. Martin, of Feilding, and in the evening, by the local resident minister, Mr. T. Flower. A social was held Tuesday evening, when a large numbei of parents and friends gathered together. Mr. Taylor of Felld- , ing, was a welcome guest, and the small band of artists, who accompanied him added much to Tie evening's enjjoyment. Recitations were given by Miss D. Eichler (Feilding), Miss T. Ward, Royden Gibbs, and Miss A. Ward, with several dialogues by the scholars, which included fairies,' dolly’s doctor, and the tea party. Ai solo by Miss Goldsmith (Feilding) was much enjoyed, and a duet by the Misses Dewe and Smith was greeted with applause. A duet by the Misses N. and R. Davies was sweetly rendered. The superintendent (Mr. R. Fergusson) reported on the year’s j progress, the balance-sheet carried 'over with a debit of £2 2/8. expenditure had amounted to £6 6/4, dona-l tions and anniversary collections in | hand £4 5/9, leaving a debit of £3 14/1. The evening’s collection in aid of funds reduce/ the debit balance to a few shillings. The financial statement practically covered a period of two years, as the school was closed for a lengthy period during the epidemic; twenty-eight scholars Wore on the roll and three teachers. The average attendance was twenty-three. The children's collections were devoted to home mission rinds. Mr. Taylor, briefly addressed the children on Sunday school work generally. Mr. Flower in a. few appropriate remarks, thanked all those present for the interest displayed in the Sunday School, the hedpers, and especially the Feilding artists who had so kindly come to j their assistance.
