THE FLOWERY WAY.
When eyes have lost their lustre, and cheeks their youthful bloom: when myriad ghosts shall muster about the dead Past’s tomb. . . When dear ones arc departed, and joy's sweet tale is told; and you are weary-hearted, and Life seems old — so old. . . . When all your soul is sighing and sorrowing apart; and there's no more denying the ■ tears within your heart. . . . Remember that for ever, 'tis true as heaven is true—the bond fate cannot sever that binds joy’s past to you! For every flower of happiness is nurtured in the mind, where Memory sows its seed to bless the barren earth we find, confronting us some future day, when bitter winds have blown. . . Still fragrant Is the flowery way by faithful Memory sown! O, bright and beautiful the bond; the chain of shining flowers, that links us to the dear Beyond of joy’s immortal hours! H.S.
