Prospects of Visit to Australia in 1926

TILDEN, RICHARDS AND WILLIAMS MENTIONED

The annual meeting of th e United States Lawn Tennis Association approved the Pavis Cup .Committees xccoinmcndation to send a team to Australia next winter.

Similar approval was given at last year’s meeting, whereafter it was found impossible to enlist any high ranking players for the trip. To-day’s meeting discussed the possibility of sending players of lessor rank, provided the stare were disinclined to g«, but Mr. Julian Myrick. the committee chairman, said that when Anderson, Patterson and Hawkes were here last summer they intimated it would be useless to send any but the highest ranked players, who would force the Australians to fight and face the possibility of defeat, thereby providing the necessary stimulus for public support. Edward Moss, secretary, said: “It would bo a fine thing if we could send a picked team to Australia, such Tildon, Richards and Williams, but we cannot now say whether they will be available. These matters must rest since tVe don’t believe, especially in view of .Australian players’ statements, that the Australian Lawn tennis Association would care to finance a tour of leaser players."
