INSURANCE AGAINST CONDEMNATION.

It Is learned that some Importers of Autrallan apples are Insuring with Lloyd’s underwriters against condemnation or prohibition of import on the ground that apples are affected as a result of, spraying with arsenic, at a premium of 20/- per hundred sterling. Underwriters are taking a risk up to seventy-five per cent of the cost of the apples, insurers bearing the risk on the. other twenty-five.

Some importers are also Insuring against possible action by retailers, who may be prosecuted for selling arsenated apples. The National Federation of Fruit Trades has organised a guarantee fund of £IOOO to defray retailers] costs in defending prosecutions.
