FRIENDS—AND FRIENDS.
There’s the friend who gives you presents bought with little wads of cash; there’s the friend who’ll lend you money with a smile; there’s the friend who’s mighty generous when she’s out to cut a dash, ahd who’ll drive you in her car for many a mile. There's the friend who cannot help you with a sou, 'cos she is “broke;” but who builds anew your shattered faith and trust; whose heart is just a goldmine though she wears a shabby cloak; the sort of friend you cannot see for dust, if you want a special message sent —a case of life or death —why she’s bn the trail almost before you speak! If your head Just aches like fury* and you scarce can draw a breath, you’re feeling so dejected and so weak. . . She’s the sort of friend who seeks you out and puts things right for you; (the smart ones, can’t be bothered with such scenes); but the friend who’s made of) metal that is always ringing true is just “right there” —to prove what friendship means! —Helen Sevrez.
