THE DANNEVIRKE SHOW

COMPARISON OF ENTRIES.

The entries received by the Dannevirke A. and-P. Association for Inclusion in the catalogue for their annual show on Wednesday and Thursday next week are very satisfactory, particularly in face of the severe drought which has prevailed in Hawke’s Bay. «nd the Wairarapa this season. They total, exclusive of the school competition entries, 1834 compared with 1863 last year and when the post entries for home industries are received It is confidently anticipated that last year’s grand total of 2433 will be topped. A feature will undoubtedly bo the dairy cattle, which show a marked improvement, many small farmers being amongst the exhibitors, while the display of Jerseys promises to be the best seen on the ground, many new exhibitors have signified their Intention of participating. There will be keen competition in Aberdeen Angus, which will be a feature, while Herefords also show a vast improvement. The dog section under the auspices of the Kennel Club will furnish rhe best exhibition of the kind in the history of the club, which is saying a lot, and there should be a great display of harriers, entries having been received from the Hawke’s Bay,, Manawatu and Dannevirko Hunts. A very satisfactory feature of this year’s show is the number of new exhibitors, while the competitions, side shows and trade exhibits (in .which motor-cars predominate) will furnish patrons with ample amusement and Interest. A comparison of the entries with those of last year (with the supplementary and post entries still to come) is as follows;^—
